Wall Panel Machine
Main raw material used for lightweight concrete Jul 24, 2020

DURING THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION of the 18th and 19th centuries, the basic materials of construction were sparse. There was wood, stone, brick and mortar, and iron and steel. However, the irons and steels of that day were vastly inferior to the ones used today.

With the progress of human civilization and the pursuit of a better quality life, today S.L Machinery perfectly combined the technology of Lightweight wall panel material and steel structure by launching the lightweight concrete wall panel making machine.

Lightweight concrete is now an established lightweight building material. It is used not only on account of its light weight but also because of high thermal insulation compared with normal concrete. The lighter the concrete, the larger the insulation properties in general. An earliest application of lightweight concrete was in building industry and for producing insulating screeds. The principal structural use of lightweight concrete is in construction of under bed of floors and bed slab, where substantial economy can be achieved by decreasing the dead load. Indirect saving in steel and decreasing size in foundation are advantages.

Lightweight EPS wall panel is one of the most popular of the new lightweight building materials. It needs less structural steel reinforcement, uses smaller foundations, has better fire resistance, it can be used as insulation material. Lightweight concrete is made using either lightweight aggregates such as pumice, expanded slag, clinker, etc or with foaming agents that produce low unit weight through generation of gas.

Lightweight aggregates include EPS Foam, pumice, scoria, volcanic cinders, tuff, and diatomite. The aggregate can also be made by heating clay, shale, slate, diatomaceous shale, perlite, obsidian, and vermiculite.

Other new lightweight building materials that are composed of even the fiber of waste from young coconut and durian for strength and bulk density. The studies have shown that these materials are good for the construction of wall panels and roofs, thereby saving energy and reducing waste from the fruit industry.

Another popular lightweight building material is fly ash.

Waste fly ash is a product generated by coal burning power plants and it is now being used to produce lightweight bricks and building aggregate.  The process by which the materials are made traps the harmful chemicals in the waste fly ash and creates a material that is economic and reduces the generation of greenhouse gases.  The bricks are 28 percent lighter and 24 percent stronger than comparable clay bricks and the aggregate is 22 percent lighter and 20 percent stronger than standard products.
